You're never too old for coloring books, particularly if your coloring book can breed brilliant decorating ideas. So put down the magazines and design books for a minute and pick up this Rock Scissor Paper Creative Interiors Idea Journal and Coloring Book ($35). Designed for the kid (and design junkie) in all of us, this cute spiral-bound book includes line drawings of furniture, patterns, and interiors that you can "design" with the accompanying colored pencils.

Diane von Furstenberg was in London for fashion week (I spotted her at the Central Saint Martins for Bally event) and it seems she has been a busy lady. Having recently recruited a new creative director following the departure of Nathan Jenden, she has now added a few more strings to her bow by, amongst other things, releasing an album.
Unfortunately, the New York based designer is not singing herself but rather has put together a compilation songs by her favourite female artists to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Italian fashion house Moschino is testing out its style skills in the wonderful world of interiors with its brand new Maison Moschino hotel in Milan. Set in an 1840 neoclassical building and former train station, the hotel was designed by the label's creative director, Rossella Jardini, along with its art director Jo Ann Tan, and fully restored with respect to its original façade.
Much like Moschino's apparel, the interiors have a fanciful, surrealistic quality that just toes the line at fantastical.

One of my New York Fashion Week highlights was meeting J.Crew's Creative Director Jenna Lyons. As you know, I am officially J.Crazy — Fab's been a wearer since high school. But for the past several years and thanks to fellow wearer First Lady Michelle Obama, J.Crew has gained serious momentum.

Just this year, sisters Pamela and Steph Katch decided to start The Katch Design Company, a custom furniture and a la carte interior decoration and styling service as an offshoot of Katch I.D., their New York City residential interiors firm.
Pamela, a former museum installation designer and creative director, and Steph, a Parsons School of Design grad and interior designer, have now turned their sights toward designing and manufacturing furniture that emphasizes the idea of responsible luxury — combining well-made, handsome design with sustainable materials and low environmental impact.

We design enthusiasts will admit that Domino will always hold a special place in our hearts — and bookshelves. But it was the stable of talented, creative people that truly made the beloved magazine an influence and an inspiration. So I was so delighted to have the chance to catch up with the founding editor-in-chief of Domino and co-author of Domino: The Book of Decorating, Deborah Needleman.

Two years ago, Leslie Bamburg formed her company Labexperiment, an interior design business that offers an affordable professional decorator option to the design fiend who lacks mad cash. Labexperiment works on the premise that beautiful design can be affordable, individualized, and integrated to meet the resident's needs. Leslie notes that she doesn't believe that there should be separation between people's fashion, media, tech needs, music, and interiors.

San Francisco-based interior stylist Gary Spain creates eclectic interiors that take inspiration from unexpected sources. Indeed, in the current issue of California Home+Design, he notes that, "When I’m on a project, I’m really inspired by everything I see."
Spain's interiors mix high- and low-end finds, global influences, and showstopper new and vintage pieces.
